JOHANN ZARCO

Johann Zarco came into the 125cc class in 2009 after a winding route to the World Championship, which saw him crowned Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup winner in 2007. Finishing 20th in his debut season in the World Championship Zarco took a big step in 2010 with the WTR outfit, scoring a succession of top-ten finishes and placing 11th overall. His displays and development caught the eye of Aki Ajo and in 2011 Zarco joined the prestigious team for what was a remarkable season for the French rider where he finished runner-up. Zarco stepped up to the Moto2 class in 2012 on a MotoBI machine with the JiR Team, during which he impressed and took the “Rookie of the Year” award. He then moved to IodaRacing Project for 2013; riding a Suter and achieving rostrum finishes in Italy and Valencia. Responsibilities were larger in 2014, as he spearheaded the line-up of the brand-new AirAsia Caterham Motor Racing team but with the squad departing to Moto3™ for 2015 Zarco found himself a ride with the new Ajo Motorsport intermediate class set-up for the current season.
