SC-Project fornitore tecnico ufficiale Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS

The Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS was born in 2005 from the passion for the two and four wheels of Marc van der Straten. Until 2015 he was involved in many car racing (speed on the track and rally), but in 2016 he decided to devote himself to the bike. The world has been present since 2010 in the Moto2 class with drivers of the caliber of Scott Redding and Mikka Kallio riding a Suter before and, two years later, in Kalex. In 2015 his debut in MotoGP with Honda, which has a two-year agreement, the British rider Redding. The best result is third place fortuitously in the San Marino Grand Prix, but after this season Redding does not go beyond a disappointing thirteenth place in the drivers' standings. In 2016 they take to the track Jack Miller, in his second year in the premier class and novice Tito Rabat, 2014 Moto2 World Championship.

Concept

The basic concept of the 2016 RC213V continues as it has been applied since its introduction in 2012, while complying to the technical regulation changes including a new tyre supplier in Michelin and the newly introduced Common Software.

Chassis

For 2016 the chassis has been modified in its rigidity and balance and designed to reach the maximum compatibility between turning and stability. The twin-spar aluminium chassis is immensely light and yet provides the ideal stiffness and strength characteristics required to contain and deliver more than 180kw from the RC213V’s engine to the rear tyre. As well as strength, the chassis features the right amount of carefully designed flexibility to enhance tyre grip.

Engine

Honda adopted a four-cylinder “V” engine with 1,000cc capacity with the RC213V that can exploit maximum power with enough durability to complete the 18 races in the season with 7 engines. Honda have reviewed all the details of the new engine, making it lighter, more powerful and with rider-friendly characteristics.

Suspension

For 2016 the RC213V is fitted with Öhlins suspension front and rear. Providing the essential link between wheel and chassis, the suspension’s job is to keep the tyre in contact with the ground and produce maximum grip as the machine hits the thousands of bumps and ripples encountered on every lap. It’s a crucial link in the performance chain and for this reason Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS have a dedicated Öhlins technician assigned to them.

Bodywork

The lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork plays an important role in making the RC213V as aerodynamic as possible. The 2016 RC213V has a modified fairing to reach the maximum compatibility and performance between handling and drag.

Tyres

MotoGP tyres are supplied exclusively by Michelin and are now 17” in dianeter. Each rider is permitted to use a maximum of 22 slick tyres, 14 wet tyres and 6 intermediate tyres during each Grand Prix weekend.

Brakes

Brembo supplies the carbon-fibre front brakes. For the rear disk and front disks when running in wet conditions, the RC213V relies on steel brake disks.

Exhaust System

For the 2016 season the RCV213V is equipped with the SC-Project titanium exhaust system

Tito Rabat

Tito Rabat makes the step up to MotoGP after securing the team’s first World Championship title in the Moto2 category. Rabat didn’t just win the 2014 Moto2 World Championship he dominated it, setting new records along the way. The Spaniard won seven of the 18 races, set a new record for pole positions in a single season with 11 and scored more points than any other rider in the intermediate class in the 65 year history of Grand Prix racing.

Jack Miller

Like many Australians before him Miller started his racing career on dirt bikes. Having racked up six Australian titles on the dirt he then switched his attention to road racing, with similar success. The success continued following a move to Europe, where Miller won the 2011 IDM 125cc Championship aged just 16 and was rewarded with a ride in the Moto3 World Championship the following season. Miller joins the team for his second season in MotoGP, having jumped into the premier class in 2015 straight from Moto3, following a titanic season long battle that saw the Australian lose out on the World Championship title by just two points to eventual winner, Álex Márquez.
